AS A WOMAN I HAVE MY EXPECTATIONS OF HOW I'D LIKE TO LOOK AND FEEL WHEN I STYLE MYSELF. THERE ARE PLENTY OF STYLISH TRENDS THAT I'D LOVE TO TRY BUT THE WAY MY POST BIRTH BODY...PLUS FRIED CHICKEN WINGS, IS SET UP I HAVE TO FIND A HAPPY MEDIAN.
Yes, this is a style/fashion post but the way this mommy life is set up it's a gamble when I go shopping and even more of a gamble to look at my self in the mirror when I'm trying clothes on. So it's safe to say that black sometimes is my best bet... especially when we're doing tight. (Le Sigh) However, I'm trying to step out of my comfort zone all while being more comfortable with who I am. I've done plenty style post in the past but always felt insecure and reluctant due to the fact that I don't look like the average Instagram model or fitness model. Listen, I'm trying to get my weight and shape together I just had a minor set back; but until then I have to enjoy the body I'm in to reach the goal I'm going to be satisfied with.
One thing that I've decided to do was wear what compliments my figure now. This black body con dress with a sheer black duster gave me a nice sophisticated vibe on my birthday. I didn't get to capture the essence of the outfit the night of my birthday (the turn up was real) so I decided to recapture the moment against this colorful graffiti back drop.
How many of you can relate to the depressing feeling of going shopping? Do you know I haven't been shopping in 2 years, and that so happened to be me shopping for my boutique at the time. I had to ask myself, "why was something so fun years ago, is now the bane of my existence? I had to eventually come to the conclusion that I was allowing outside influences effect my style vision. Just because you see everything you'd like to wear, doesn't mean you have to wear it. However, it's a free country and we're all allowed freedom of expression, so by all means do what ultimately makes you happy.
Although, I realize that it was hard when most of the affordable online and brick and mortar stores sold the "I'm just covering the nipples and my vagina because it's the law" clothing leaving little to work with. But that's when I realized that I had to put my styling creativity into full effect because the ultimate goal is to feel happy, comfortable and confident when I step out. Now, I will admit that picking out that all black attire was somewhat of a crutch because we all know that black hides those imperfections. Listen, I'm still a work in progress but I do want to be realistic with myself and not necessarily fall in the confides of what a "Style Blogger" looks like.
Shout outs to the mama's with f.u.p.a.s, love handles, muffin tops, back rolls, double chins and cellulite because of comfort eating when we're depressed and tired. Or the baby weight that we were supposed to loose but forgot about us because we're working double shift as provider and home maker. We're still cute, sexy, trendy, stylish and FINE. I'm dedicating my style journey to show how we can still have edge and funk all while complimenting our imperfections with a little TLC.
